Cool videos

I have been really busy lately so haven’t posted much. Here are some tantalising little movies to keep you entertained. Pretty remarkable uses of multimedia. Again, like the others I’ve posted these two are pushing the boundaries of digital multimedia – always fun!

How do you feel about bullets? Robbie Cooper unveils the faces of video gamers…
Posted by Dean Bradshaw | Filed under Multimedia, Photography Links
Ever wondered what you actually looked like whilst pulling that contorted face in an effort to have little Mario jump far enough so that he doesn’t fall to his doom? How about when you’re on your last life and the countdown is ticking away?
Wii tennis? Now don’t even get me started…
In an exceedingly innovative piece for the New York Times, titled ‘immersion’, Robbie Cooper photographed young video game players reacting to games under similar circumstances…only more guns and grenades were involved (whatever happened to friendly old Mario?).
To get the shots, Cooper rigged up a high resolution RED video camera behind a pane of glass, and projected the games onto the glass.
Canon 5d mkII videos: Game Changers

The Canon 5d mkII promises to revolutionise the photographic industry – both in the amateur and professional spheres. Shooting full High Definition video – via a highly sensitive 35mm sensor – the camera allows photographers to unleash their creative vision in motion picture as well as 21 megapixel still photographs.
But don’t take my word for it, listen to Vincent Laforet – pulitzer prize winning photojournalist and creator of the widely acclaimed short film ‘Reverie’ – shot in one day on a pre-production 5d mkII – as he speaks about the 5D mkII at the Photo Plus Expo in New York.
For those as eager I as have been to get your hands on any examples of video recorded on a 5d mkII, check the following links out – a selection of my favourites from around the web – after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »
Ashes and Snow – Gregory Colbert

Ashes and Snow is difficult to describe.
It is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, a primeval tapestry of visual imagery, rare instances where the power of the images comes less from their formal beauty than from the way they envelop the viewer in their mood … windows into a world with which we have become disconnected…

Yanchep Adventures: Slideshow
Posted by Dean Bradshaw | Filed under Multimedia, Photojournalism & Story Telling
I’ve been playing with media presentations lately. Here’s a little slideshow I concocted showing our adventures at Yanchep. What I love about doing this is that when you deal with your images in this fashion, you find storylines in your work where you thought there were none.
If you think your connection can handle it, try the “full screen” option for the best experience!
Enjoy!

Flip-book style shooting – Canon XSi Ad
Posted by Dean Bradshaw | Filed under Advertising, GEAR, Multimedia
Check out this awesome video put together for an ad promoting the new Canon XSi/450D running in the US. Apparently 70,000 images were shot, funnily enough all on the 10fps capable Canon 1D MKIII…
Awesome idea, and reminds me of one of the more innovative media presentations i’ve seen:
