I’m a sucker for graphic art. I’m especially digging the increasing amounts of collaborations between graphic artists and photographers, mixing mediums and creating some amazing work in the process.

I have been interested in this field for a while so when I saw that the exceptionally talented Peter Nudo lived not far from me in sunny San Diego… I got in touch with him in the hopes that we could work on a project together.

Turned out Peter was at a similar stage in his career to me and eager to sink his teeth into some new projects. He has an infectious enthusiasm for art and design much like myself and we hit it off.

Here is one of the fruits of our chat…a ‘remix’ of one of my images that wouldn’t have otherwise seen the light of day…

Kudos to Pete for making something of this image – he’s just relocated to San Fran and is going to go FAR!

Phew, it’s been a while since my last post – we’ve been so busy working on retouching projects that time has flown by. I’ve been in California now for almost 4 months! It has been an absolute blast.

I was at Photoshop World in Las Vegas at the beginning of the month – where I met a whole bunch of the guys from NAPP and learnt a few new things. At the opening Keynote one of the presenters demonstrated some of the new features Adobe has been working on.

Here are two new technologies they’ve been developing. Unfortunately we aren’t to know when they might be showing up in a release version of Photoshop. The first is content aware patching. I use the patch tool regularly every day, so this looks pretty exciting – though whether or not it will be useful in real-world commercial retouching remains to be seen….Check out the very cool video demo here…

The second is similar, probably based on the same algorithms – content aware healing. This looks like it will be tremendously useful for day to day retouching where extraneous elements need to be removed from source images. Check it out here…

Courtesy of John Nack from Adobe!
